SDI Training Sessions

SDI sessions include both Individual Training Sessions and Team Training sessions. Individual Sessions (IS) are designed with the intent to give the interested player one on one instruction. The purpose of these sessions is to either teach, repair and/or improve the technical ability of the individual player. Team Training is designed to reinforce the Technical aspect of the game in a tactical setting. SDI Coaching Staff does TTS with high school teams, club teams, recreational teams or college players.

Individual Sessions

At SDI, we demand that the Individual Player, demand of themselves, to be able to get the most out of each session. Each Coach in SDI uses these key concepts to maximize the total development of the player.

At SDI, we demand that the Individual Player, demand of themselves, to be able to get the most out of each session. Each Coach in SDI uses these key concepts to maximize the total development of the player.

The sessions are designed to reinforce the following four (4) key concepts:

  • The body position…in relation to the position of the ball
  • The type of approach…in relation to the position of the ball
  • The technique used to execute the function…in relation to the position of the ball
  • The ‘follow through’…in relation to where the ball will end up

Team Training Sessions

Players are now constantly challenged to demonstrate good technical skill at game speed. This allows the technically strong player to be able to make better decisions on or off the ball using his team position to either direct the next play or initiate the attack using good technical skill in distributing the ball.

During the SDI Team Training Sessions, Coaches continue to evaluate the same concepts as in the Private Sessions (PS), along with a couple others.

They are as followed:

  • The body position……in relation to the position of the ball
  • The body position……in relation to the position of the ball
  • The type of approach….in relation to the position of the ball
  • The technique used to execute the function….. in relation to the position of the ball
  • The ‘follow through’…..in relation to where the ball will end up
  • The team’s position……in relation to the ball
  • The team’s position……in relation to the position of the opposing team
  • The speed of play…..when in possession of the ball

At SDI we demand of the team to demand of themselves and of each other to get the most out of every session. Coaches are asked to reinforce the key concepts and ensure that techniques are performed well at all times to maximize the players’ developmental potential.
